Decision details

THAT COUNCIL

1.          Adopts the Caretaker Policy as contained in Attachment A to the Item 7.2 on the Agenda for the meeting of the City Finance and Governance Committee held on 19 May 2026, subject to a variation to the policy to include a public meeting(s) of candidates held and resourced by the Council.

2.          Requests the Chief Executive Officer, prior to the commencement of the election period, to ensure that Council subsidiaries and any other Council entities to which the Caretaker Policy applies are provided with guidance on the application of the Caretaker Policy.

3.          Requests the Chief Executive Officer to commence consultation with the Minister for Planning regarding the application of caretaker principles to Kadaltilla / Adelaide Park Lands Authority during the election period, including appropriate guidance for its board or governing body in relation to public-facing activities, communications, events, public engagement, branding, use of resources and Council Member involvement.

4.       Authorises the Chief Executive Officer to make any minor editorial and formatting changes as required to finalise the Caretaker Policy as contained in Attachment A to Item 7.2 on the Agenda for the meeting of the City Finance and Governance Committee held on 18 May 2026.

5.       Notes that the Lord Mayor and Chief Executive Officer have received a request from the No. 24 (City of Adelaide) (Auxiliary) Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force to exercise their right to Freedom of Entry to the City of Adelaide to commemorate their 75th Anniversary on 24 October 2026.

6.       Approves the Lord Mayor to exercise all civic and ceremonial functions and duties required to facilitate the Freedom of Entry to the City of Adelaide to the No. 24 (City of Adelaide) (Auxiliary) Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force.
