Decision details

1.         Recommendation 1 – Item 7.1- Tree Management Policy

THAT COUNCIL:

1.       Approves the updated Tree Management Policy, as contained in Attachment A to Item 7.1 on the Agenda for the meeting of the City Planning, Development and Business Affairs Committee, held on 6 October 2026.

2.       Retains the Park Land Olive Management Plan and seeks further advice on a strategic and improved Park Land Olive Management Plan and options for funding.

3.       Notes that the updated Policy provides the overarching framework for the management of the City of Adelaide’s urban forest and is supported by operational documents including the Tree Operating Guideline, as contained in Attachment C and Tree Risk Assessment Protocol as contained in Attachment D to Item 7.1 on the Agenda for the meeting of the City Planning, Development and Business Affairs Committee, held on 6 October 2026.

4.       Notes that the updated Tree Management Policy will support the City of Adelaide’s strategic objective of achieving 40% tree canopy cover by 2035 through continued tree planting, replacement of trees removed for reasons such as replacement due to end of life, protection of existing trees and identification of additional planting opportunities.

5.       Notes that the Tree Management Policy will be reviewed every four years, or earlier where legislative or operational change requires review, with the next scheduled review in 2030.
