Decision details

That Council:

1.       Notes concerns that all-day parking demand in residential streets surrounding hospitals and medical clinics in North Adelaide reduces parking availability for residents and their visitors.

2.       Requests Administration to review on-street parking in these residential precincts, with particular focus on streets surrounding Calvary North Adelaide Hospital, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and nearby medical clinics.

3.       Requests that the review:

a.       Identify and map affected residential streets, including neighbouring streets experiencing parking overflow.

b.       Assess parking occupancy, the duration of parking, existing restrictions and resident and visitor permit arrangements.

c.       Consult with surrounding residents about parking difficulties and potential improvements.

d.       Engage with hospitals and medical clinics to consider access needs for patients, carers and staff.

e.       Recommend measures to improve parking availability for residents and visitors, while considering potential displacement into neighbouring streets.

4.       Requests Administration to report back to Council within four months with the consultation findings, recommended changes and an implementation timetable.

Undertakings - Councillor Couros - MoN - Residential Parking Around North Adelaide Hospitals and Medical Clinics

In response to queries from Councillor Martin, undertakings were given to:

·                Review the agreement with the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for parking spaces on MacKinnon Parade in lieu of freeing up spaces in the multi storey car park.

·                Investigate loading zones for ride share services, taxi’s etc
